What is GMAT?

GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) is meant for people who wish to pursue MBA in the US or Canada. Most graduate schools of business use the GMAT as one of the criteria by which they assess potential students.
The weight given to the GMAT when applying to a MBA program varies from school to school, with some giving it a great deal of importance and others focusing much more on an interview or prior experience in the business world.

Who conducts this test?

The GMAT is the brainchild of the GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Council), which determines what kinds of skills the GMAT should measure — and how it should measure them. But it is ETS (Educational Testing Service) in Princeton, New Jersey that actually develops the test questions, administers the test, and reports test scores to the schools.
