Maximum Applications for GRE in 2011

Graduate Record Examination (GRE) has noticed maximum number of test volumes in 2011. The figures crossed 8 lakh test volumes last year. The Educational Testing Service has shared this information and said that the launch of new revised test played a significant part in this success.

This is really a good development for GRE test when all other tests recorded a downfall in volumes. The launch of GRE revised General Test helped record a good increase compared to last year. This year GRE recorded almost 13% increase in volumes over that of 2010. ETS officials said that this change has happened due to the new friendly design of the GRE revised test. The test gives you the freedom to choose a college worldwide as the test score is accepted by a large number of management institutes across the globe.


David Payne, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of ETS's Higher Education Division, said, "We are excited to see such a sharp rise in interest in the GRE revised General Test because it ultimately leads to more people pursuing higher education. In addition, the growing use of GRE scores by B-schools is good news for aspirants who now have more opportunities for success. Aapplicants can take one test to get into both graduate school as well as an MBA."

In last year, GRE noticed a good growth in all major markets across the world. In 2011, US volumes increased by almost 10%, and it hasalso noticed a good growth in important segments, such as underrepresented groups, the variety of undergraduate degree and those who are planning to pursue an MBA. GRE exam noticed this increase not only in one region but across the world, including Europe, Africa, and other regions. Last year India recorded almost 43% growth and China a 28% increase in test volumes.

Last year, it also noticed a remarkable increase in number of institutions, which includes B-Schools and various other global institutes that accept GRE scores for admissions -. In 2010, more institutes joined the list of B-Schools which accepts GRE score, the number increase from 450 to 800. Payne said, "GRE test takers now have access to more institutions than ever before with substantial growth in acceptance by business and international schools."

Harvie Wilkinson, director of MBA programs for the Gatton College of Business at the University of Kentucky, said, "Accepting GRE scores is a win-win for both aspirants and the graduate program. The student now has more options, and with that, the B-school becomes more diverse; with different backgrounds working together, better projects are able to be produced."
