IIMs targeting a better mix of students.
If the trend of the last year or two is analyzed,
it now is very clear that the IIMs are targeting
a better mix of students in their campuses even if that means compromising
on the selection criteria based on CAT.
This though is a bed news for the engineers who till a year or two ago were the ones who
mostly filled up the coveted IIM seats.
This year,students from backgrounds as varied as a rock band guitarist,
an ISRO scientist,NGO workers and painters have made it to the IIMs....
This ofcourse will help make the classroom environment much more interesting.
But the question remains...
Is it really good to compromise on the selection criteria to achieve diversity?
We know we all will have different views on this.
Hope the IIMs do whatever is best for all.
